Organizational Context and Scope
The 26 August flash floods in central Nepal have caused significant loss of life, displacement and damage to homes, roads, bridges and essential services. Government-led response operations are ongoing, while access constraints and complete verification of displacement and housing impacts remain key challenges.
In September 2026, the UN Nepal Rasuwa Flood Flash Appeal was launched by the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office Nepal with three-pronged objectives 1) Save lives and alleviate sufferings 2) Protect affected people and reduce protection risks 3) Sustain lives by restoring inclusive access to essential services, local markets and critical connectivity.
IOM is implementing the Emergency Non-Food Items (NFI) project for flood-affected communities in Nepal, funded by the Government of Japan, to address urgent needs related to emergency shelter and NFIs. Under the overall supervision of IOM’s Chief of Mission, in close coordination with the Head of the MECR Unit and under the direct supervision of the National Project Officer, the successful candidate will support the logistical and administrative arrangements required for the smooth and effective implementation of the project.
